Artist Statement

Kylie Rusk is a New Zealand-based artist residing in Muriwai, Auckland, whose work reflects a deep connection with the natural world. Growing up on a farm in the Far North, she developed a profound appreciation for the land that continues to influence her artistic practice today. Her passion for landscapes emerged at an early age and is continually fueled by the ever-changing Muriwai skyline, which serves as a constant source of inspiration

Kylie completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a specialization in lithography, alongside a conjoint Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in geography. Driven by a deep appreciation for environmental planning, she pursued a Master of Town Planning Practice while working full-time, enabling her to make meaningful contributions to land use and environmental management

For a decade, Kylie worked as a town planner in both public and private sectors while maintaining her artistic practice through solo and group exhibitions. Despite success in town planning, her heart always remained with the arts. After the birth of her second child, with strong support from her husband, she made the life-changing decision to focus on art full-time.

Today, Kylie’s lithographic prints and acrylic works capture the shifting hues, textures, and light of New Zealand’s diverse landscapes. Her art combines technical precision, expressive depth, and environmental awareness to create pieces that evoke intimacy and grandeur. She offers art commissions and sells unique paintings, fine art prints, and lithographs on her website, inviting viewers to connect deeply with the beauty and changing moods of nature.
